Day 45

Local Resident With Mob Links Killed In Broken-up Break-In

Milwaukie, Ore - Ronzio Michael Waldrone, who resided locally, was found unresponsive at a private residence this afternoon, and later pronounced dead of blunt force injuries, according to authorities.

Waldrone, known to organized crime detectives by his street name, “Two O’Clock Wasp”, was a close associate of Johnny “Mud Dauber” Daubins, who has been indicted thirty-three times on criminal counts, but never convicted.

A member of the Organized Crime Task Force, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the task force understood Waldrone was attempting to gain unauthorized access to a vehicle on the property, from which he had been trespassed several times in recent weeks. The source said the property owner, who was in the vehicle when Waldrone attempted to force entry, managed to fight his way out, and a melee ensued. Though Waldrone was found to be armed, the property owner reportedly incapacitated the intruder with a broom, knocking Waldrone unconscious without incurring injury to himself.

The task force member described Mr. Waldrone as, “a professional bad guy.” He didn’t venture comment as to why Waldrone was trying to gain access to the vehicle, nor why he had been been removed from the property numerous times before, but did credit the property owner for his mettle.

“Frankly,” the officer said, “If this guy Two O’Clock broke into my house once, I’d move. Twice, I’d leave the country.” Asked if he meant to imply Waldrone was a hit man for Daubins, the source declined to answer, stating a concern for his own family.

The Medical Examiner’s office described the injuries to Waldrone as “extensive,” with wounds about the head, abdomen, and thorax. As to whether the injuries were consistent with a broom used defensively, the ME called the theory “conceivable” but said he couldn’t rule out a surprise attack from behind.

“I can tell you the deceased got broomed pretty hard,” the Medical Examiner said. “I can tell you he got broomed all over.”

The property owner was unreachable by phone this afternoon. A spokesman for Mr. Daubins said his employer had no comment.
